Player Characters

When a PC’s Health reaches 0 they may choose one of the following options:

Fainting

The player character passes out from exhaustion, they are no longer in combat. They will not be killed but the gm should work with the player and choose one or more consequences, here are some suggestions:

  • The fainted character suppresses a Bond with another PC due to resentment, guilt, shame, etc..
  • The character is captured and separated from the other PCs.
  • An important Item or NPC associated the character is stolen, destroyed or killed..
  • The character now fears the Foe (or a group associated with the Foe) that was responsible for their Knock Out, they always play last in the turn order when fighting this Foe.

Crawling

The Player Character is reduced to a state in which they can’t fight, but they still cling to consciousness. They recover one HP and may take a move action with only their base speed. A party member may choose to spend 2 AP to help them recover if they are adjacent to them. If the Crawling PC is not helped this way in three turns they will Faint. This state can only happen once per combat (not once per character per combat. Only once per combat).
